Matthias Duchscherer, managing President of ProLightAfrica, bears on many years of experience on strategic and intercultural communication, e.g. journalism, public relations and African media systems. Lately he had been working at Ilmenau University of Technology as lecturer and researcher and currently works as a self employed project developer in Germany and Africa on practical and scientific level, e.g. for the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Defence and the German Armed Forces.
Dr. Yves J. M. Lamour
Dr.-Ing. Yves J. M. Lamour, Country Director of Project Lighthouse Gambia, is a lecturer at University of the Gambia (UTG) and one of the leading experts in environmental studies in the West African country. Dr. Lamour, a former UN Chief Technical Advisor for the Gambia, is currently establishing the new Department of Environmental Science at UTG. He has studied and worked as lecturer at University of Karlsruhe, Germany, for more than 25 years and made his PhD in engineering science.
Dr. Andreas Helwig
Dr. Helwig gained his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Brescia, Italy, working on gas sensing principles at semiconductor surfaces. His expertise concerns silicon micromachining technologies and the design of chemical sensors. Currently he is working in the central research institution of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space GmbH – EADS, as a manager for research projects. His main responsibility is in the field of sensor systems for aeronautical applications and harsh environment.
Capital Representative Berlin
Born in Kinshasa/DRC, Kani Tuyala lived in Abidjan/Ivory Coast, grew up in Münster/Germany and studied Political Management at Bremen University of Applied Sciences. He currently works on his PhD and as lecturer at Freie Universität Berlin for the Masters Program ‘Visual and Media Anthropology’. Due to his intercultural experience and professional background in the field of international politics and media Kani Tuyala works from time to time as ‘Africa Expert’ for German news TV channel N24.
Director Project Management
With more than 15 years experience in project management and marketing, Frank Weiland works as Global Account Manager for a German high-tech company in insulation technologies for leading brands in the automotive, marine propulsion and power generation industry. In his voluntary engagement he served as a Red Cross paramedic for seven years. Frank Weiland is one of the founding members of Project Lighthouse Gambia.
Judie Makena Kaberia
Judie Kaberia, founder member and Country Director of Project Lighthouse Kenya, won multiple awards for her outstanding journalism at Capital FM, one of the biggest and most significant private radio stations in Kenya. Through her work, Judie understands the challenges facing developing countries, especially Kenya. She has the challenge of meeting key international and national personalities for exclusive interviews on issues affecting the country directly or indirectly. This has widened her network of professional friends and rich contacts.
Japhet Kirimi Rukaria
Japhet Kirimi Rukaria, likewise founder member and treasurer of Project Lighthouse Kenya, studied at University of Nairobi and has a degree in business administration. He has over ten years working experience as key account manager of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), which is the largest bank in East and Central Africa. Currently he works in Nairobi at the bank’s executive unit where KCB attend to executive customers including senior gorvernment officials.
